STEP 1
Before planting up, terracotta pots should be soaked
in water to reduce the amount of moisture removed
from the compost. Thoroughly water the plant.
STEP 2
Place adequate drainage material such as gravel,
broken pieces of terracotta or polystyrene into the
bottom third of your pot or planter.
STEP 3
Use good container compost appropriate to the
needs of the plant. If in doubt, seek advice from your
local garden centre.
STEP 4
Remove the plant from it’s original packaging,
taking care not to damage the roots. Position
centrally and fill in with compost. Firm the plant in
place.
STEP 5
Try to avoid setting the plant too deeply. We also
recommend leaving a gap below the rim to assist in
watering the plant.
STEP 6
Use pot feet or pot stands to raise the planter off the
ground to allow good drainage and to improve frost
resistance.
STEP 7
Finally, water the plant in well.
HANDY TIP
Add the finishing touch! Top dressing with Apta
polished stones or terracotta marbles will instantly
provide added display impact. Additionally, this will
help reduce surface evaporation, avert soil pest
attack and prevent weed development!
